What is Chiropractic Treatment?
"Chiropractic" is a Greek word; It
consists of the words chiro (el) and practic (practice). That means manual
treatment.
Since the manipulation of the spine is the basis of
this manual treatment, it is also known as "manipulation" or
"manipulation therapy of the spine" in most places. It is a
scientific and more complicated form of treatment known as "pulling"
among the people.
The main purpose of chiropractic treatment, that is, manipulation therapy of the spine, is to eliminate the
disalignment disorder of the spine and to regulate the functions of the body.
How Does Chiropractic Treatment
Work?
Our spinal cord, which is the continuation of our
brain, is located behind our spine. The spinal cord provides communication
between the nerves that go to our entire body and the brain. A number of
disorders in the structure or placement of the spines also affect the spinal
cord. Over time, due to various reasons (such as trauma, stress, posture
disorder, hernia), the natural structure of the spine deteriorates. In such a
condition, a number of disruptions in the communication between the brain and
the body can be seen. These often manifest as pain or dysfunction
(constipation, excessive sweating, insomnia, etc.).
Thanks to the correction of the treatable alignment
disorders of the spine by chiropractic, that is, by manual manipulation of the
spine, the existing dysfunctions or pains are healed.
The main purpose of the application is; The
correction of the disorder in the sequence is thus to ensure healthy
communication between the brain, nervous system and organs.
Chiropractic treatment is a "scientific"
treatment method accepted by the World Health Organization. Also, the American
Medical Association recommends
chiropractic treatment as the first choice in treating
low back and neck pain.
How Many Sessions Are Needed?
Depending on the condition of the patient and the
disease, 2 sessions are performed per week, 1 in a week, 1 in two weeks or 1 in
a month. An average of 6-8 sessions are planned. Combined with physical
therapy and exercise increases the effectiveness of treatment and reduces the
duration of treatment.
In Which Diseases Can
Chiropractic Be Applied?
Are Mass Mass and Chiropractic
the Same Thing?
Unfortunately, due to the lack of knowledge and
supervision in this field in our country,
in addition to reducing the scientific value of the treatment by wearing
some names such as mass treatment, some people who do not have sufficient
knowledge and authority apply it to patients who are looking for a solution by saying "I am an expert in this business".
These people are widely promoted and advertised, especially on social media,
and by using the sound of the gas emanating from the joints as a result of the
sudden manipulation of the spine during treatment as an indicator of the
success or effectiveness of the treatment, they try to
convince patients that the procedure is successful with expressions such as
"I put it in place, I placed it". Patients who are temporarily relieved as a result of the release
of gas in the joint also believe that they receive effective treatment.
However, the patient's complaints return when the gas fills the joint again
after a while. Especially in these matters, patients should not apply this
treatment to themselves without being very careful and thoroughly researched.
Chiropractic treatment is a highly effective
scientific treatment method that has no side effects when
applied by experts in treatment. However, whether the person is
suitable for chiropractic treatment must be decided after being evaluated by
a physician.
